January 10, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 amFree
Join us for a conversation with photographer, Richard Bell as he tells us about his book, The Last Veterans of WWII. Bell will discuss his experience working with this amazing group of people, how he found them, and his inspiration. If you would like to learn more about Richard and his book, please visit: www.richardbellphoto.com and www.thelastveterans.com
Chronicling the many faces of the WWII effort, these contemporary black-and-white portraits of the longest surviving veterans remind us that the war comprised a collection of Americans from all walks of life.
Appealing to the families of soldiers, academics, history buffs, and veterans of other wars, this collection is a testament to the spirit of patriotism and diversity of a collective American effort.
A lifelong photojournalist and commercial photographer, Richard Bell started his career at Kent State University with a degree in Journalism. After witnessing the shootings at Kent, Richard switched his major from Biology to Journalism. Jobs at two large metropolitan daily papers followed: The St. Petersburg Times and The Philadelphia Inquirer. At the Inquirer Richard moved from Staff Photojournalist to Photo Editor where he was awarded the ‘Newspaper photo editor of the year’ award from ’Pictures of the year’ competition (POY). More
Leaving the newspaper business Richard started his own commercial photography business, ‘The Bing Group’, which produced print advertising for business uses. Concurrently he was a Senior Lecturer at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, teaching documentary photography. Richard is currently working on fine art and book projects at his studio in Medford, NJ.
The series will be held in the Living Room Gallery at Perkins Center in Moorestown.
