This is a contracted (1099) position, meaning instructors are engaged as independent contractors rather than employees of Perkins. As such, individuals are responsible for managing their own taxes, insurance, and business-related expenses. This structure offers professional autonomy and scheduling flexibility while enabling artists to contribute meaningfully to our educational programming.
Community Connections
Community Connections is a Perkins-led initiative that brings people together around shared interests in art, culture, wellness, and learning.
These are ongoing monthly programs—facilitated by artists, community members, and cultural practitioners—designed to spark creativity, conversation, and connection.
Current offerings include Brick Builders, Queer Writers’ Salon, Imagine That, Sound Exchange, Queer Craft Night, and Writers 2 Writers.
Interested in leading a Community Connections series of your own? We’re always looking for new voices and ideas.

Perform at Perkins
Perkins Center provides numerous opportunities for performing artists to share their talents and connect with audiences across South Jersey. Whether you’re a musician, spoken word artist, actor, or multidisciplinary performer, we welcome collaborations that enrich our community and expand our cultural offerings.
We book performers for concerts and special events at both our Collingswood and Moorestown locations. We prioritize artists who bring diverse voices, cultural traditions, and innovative approaches to their craft.

NJ Folklife & Cultural Collaborations
Perkins Center is one of five official New Jersey State Folklife Centers. We support tradition bearers, culture keepers, and community artists through documentation projects, exhibitions, and occasional public programs.
If you’re a traditional artist interested in sharing your work—or know someone who is—reach out to our Folklife team at evillalon@perkinscenter.org.
Artist Meetups & Open Studios
We host gatherings at our Collingswood and Moorestown locations where artists can connect, share work, and build community. Events include mixers, open mic nights, and exhibition receptions.
