“The Gap between vision and current reality is also a source of energy …We call this gap creative tension”. -Peter Senge-

In October, 2013 Perkins Center launched a new fall exhibition series called Creative Tension. Creative Tension explores the artist’s vision and the self-motivation and disciplined behavior needed to achieve that vision. Our intent is to create an exhibition that generates a dialog between the artist(s) and the viewer(s), celebrating the commitment and skill used in making art while building awareness and audience understanding.

In the past the focus of our annual juried exhibitions has been to highlight a particular material such as watercolor or photography. In the spirit of innovation and change we are opening this exhibition to work in all media. Granting the artists an opportunity to submit work not previously seen in our exhibition series creates a new and exciting chapter in the exhibition tradition of the Perkins Center for the Arts.
